Jared
Diamond, author of the internationally acclaimed bestseller,
"Guns, Germs and Steel," will discuss with KCRW's Warren
Olney why human society has evolved the way it has
from the European conquest of Africa and the Americas to
disease, guns, race, power and more. Dr. Diamond won a Pulitzer
Prize for "Guns, Germs and Steel, " and it is one of the
most engrossing, enthralling books of its kind. Warren Olney
hosts the landmark public affairs programs, "Which Way,
LA?" and "To the Point," both on KCRW, the best radio station
on the planet.

A.S.
Byatt, author of "Posession," "Angels and Insects,"
and "The Matisse Stories," among many others, comes to Los
Angeles to talk about her new novel, " A Whispering Woman."
Byatt's novels continually explore the relationship between
art and science, and she is one of the most magnificent
novelists around. Her novels evoke the best of Victorian
literature, and she will discuss literature with David
Ulin, whose terrific anthologies include "Writing L.A."
and "Another City: Writings from LA."

loved ones. David Shenk, who writes for The New
Yorker and other publications, explores the world of
Alzheimers Disease from a humanistic, accessible perspective
in his book, "The Forgetting.". He looks at the syndrome
of Alzheimers Disease Disease not only from the way the
patient experiences it, but from the family's and caretaker's
